Spectacularly set in the beautiful Tywi Valley of Carmarthenshire, the story of Aberglasney Gardens spans many centuries, but the house's origins are still shrouded in mystery. The property and garden, following their ownership by various notables, fell into a desperate state of neglect and disrepair, parts of it even being offered for auction in a London sale house. This was the turning point and the law stopped the destruction of the listed building. A resotration trust was then formed in the 1990's, the garden officially openend in 1999. A walk around the garden will show you just how spectacularly successful the project has been. Amongst the gardens at Aberglasney you will find a magnificent Yew Tree Tunnel, Cloister Garden, Pool Garden, Stream and Pigeon House Wood and more. Although the facade of the house has been completed, careful renovation and restoration of the interior has only just began. Gardeners cottage is a delightful stone cottage that has been carefully restored to retain many original features whilst providing the comforts of modern day living. The lounge is spacious with open beamed ceilings, oak floor boards and open fire. The kitchen has an antique quarry tiled floor, range of fitted Shaker style base units with spalted beech work tops and butler sink. The two bedroooms both have vaulted high beamed ceilings, bedroom one has a 5' iron bedstead and the second bedroom has twin iron bedsteads. Linen is provided for the beds which will be made up ready for your arrival. There is full oil fired central heating throughout the cottage and fuel is included in the basic rental.
